Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 2 cups Apple Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Allspice
  • 1 tsp Cloves
  • 2 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 cups Raisins
  • 2 cups Nut Meats
  • 3 Eggs

Instructions
 

  • Beak slow for 40 minutes

Notes

This recipe was found in a china cabinet from Grandmother, Gussie Ransom written to Aunt Lille Schroeder.  Gussie died in 1921.  The letter was written sometime between 1915-1920.  This is what was written.
"Dear Lillie, I no you will like this cake and will have good luck with it for I do and I no you will two and they are just dandy.
Ira he shor likes them so you no they must be good if he eats cake.  For he is no Cake Hand at all.  Man this makes a big one so if you didn't want such a big one us half.  Hope you like it.  Do you no any new dishes if you do semd me some receats.  I would like to learn something new.
