Eagle Mountain Implements Traffic Calming Measure at Hidden Hollow
Print Article
We recently ran an article that included the traffic data included in several areas in Eagle Mountain. That article included a traffic study that was done in the Hidden Hollow area. 2019 Eagle Mountain Road Studies contained the following information from the Hidden Hollow area.
To help combat the speeding problem in this area Eagle Mountain City has installed two speed display signs manufactured by TraffiCalm Systems. The city purchased two of their IQ1200 driver feedback signs. These signs were purchased at a cost of $4,047.41 per sign. When asked for the goal or purpose of the signs, Zac Hilton the Streets and Storm Drain Manager responded, “They are traffic calming devices designed to improve the safety for vehicles and pedestrians. The goal is to encourage safer driving by reducing high speeds.”
The new signs are Bluetooth enabled, so the data can be downloaded easily and the configuration can be changed on each of the signs. The signs also collect data by using K-band (24.15GHz) radar with a range of 600+ feet. The sign collects the min and max speeds of all vehicles it monitors. It should be noted that the sign cannot collect all traffic data during high peak times. It does have some limitations on what it can collect with a high volume of traffic.
The full spec sheet on the signs is included here.

I would like to thank Zac and the roads crew for doing what they can to help keep the roads of Eagle Mountain in good shape and safe for drivers as well as pedestrians.
