Enhancing Recreation Opportunities: The Skatepark and Restroom Projects in Eagle Mountain City
With its commitment to enhancing community recreational facilities, Eagle Mountain City recently invited bids for two significant projects: the construction of a concrete skatepark in Smith Ranch Community Park and the installation of a prefabricated restroom facility. These projects aim to provide residents with enhanced recreational opportunities and foster community engagement. Through careful collaboration with stakeholders, securing grants, and employing specialized contractors, Eagle Mountain City is set to create vibrant spaces that cater to the diverse needs of its residents.
This will be the second skate park in Eagle Mountain, this one will be located in the Ranches area, the original skate park is located in City Center close to the Pony Express Cemetery.
Construction of the Skatepark: Eagle Mountain City’s vision of establishing a concrete skatepark became a reality after patiently awaiting the awarding of a grant submitted through UORG. The city is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of a $200,000.00 grant dedicated to the construction of the skatepark. To ensure the highest standards of design and execution, the bid for this project was entrusted to Spohn Ranch Inc., renowned specialists in skatepark design and construction. The bid was submitted through Sourcewell, a national contracting service duly recognized under the Utah state procurement code. This partnership ensures that the skatepark will be developed with expertise and adherence to the city’s procurement regulations.
Community Collaboration and Design: Recognizing the importance of engaging the skatepark community, Eagle Mountain City’s staff actively collaborated with a select group of individuals who possess intimate knowledge of the skatepark culture and user requirements. By involving key stakeholders in the design process, the resulting skatepark will be tailored to meet the needs and preferences of its future users. This collaborative effort ensures that the skatepark will not only be an exciting recreational space but also a vibrant community hub that fosters a sense of belonging and inclusivity.
Financial Investment and Contract: To fully realize the skatepark project, Eagle Mountain City has allocated a total budget of $869,600.00 for the contract with Spohn Ranch Inc. This financial commitment covers the various stages of design, construction, and overall project management. Funding for this ambitious project is derived from the secured grant, park impact fees, and park fee-in-lieu. By leveraging these financial resources, Eagle Mountain City reaffirms its dedication to investing in the well-being and recreational needs of its residents.
Prefabricated Restroom Facility: In addition to the skatepark, Eagle Mountain City recognized the need for convenient restroom facilities at Smith Ranch Community Park. With careful consideration, the city’s staff selected a prefabricated restroom solution that caters to the entire park’s usage. Moreover, an option was chosen to keep the restroom open year-round, providing greater accessibility and convenience for park visitors. Spohn Ranch Inc., drawing on their expertise beyond skatepark construction, submitted the bid for this project through Sourcewell, aligning with the Utah state procurement code.
Contract and Funding: The awarded contract for the prefabricated restroom project has been assigned to CXT Inc., with a total contract amount of $257,587.80. Eagle Mountain City has diligently secured funds from various sources, including the grant, park impact fees, and park fee-in-lieu, to cover the expenses associated with this project. By strategically allocating resources, the city ensures the timely and successful completion of this essential infrastructure.
Conclusion: Eagle Mountain City’s commitment to fostering community engagement and providing exceptional recreational opportunities is evident through its investment in the concrete skatepark and prefabricated restroom projects. Through collaborative design processes, expert contractors, and careful financial planning, the city is poised to create spaces that cater to the needs of residents and promote a sense of community. These projects exemplify Eagle Mountain City’s dedication to improving the quality of life for its residents.
