On November 17,2020 the City Council approved 4 bids to fund phase 2 of the Cory Wride Memorial Park. The awarded bids had a total dollar value of $4,360,521.39 that included, $4,047,219.21 to Kenny Seng Construction for Construction Management, $139,155 to Condale Electric for park lighting, $61,550.18 to Big T Recreation for park amenities, and $112,597 to Sonntag Recreation LLC for park equipment. If you visit Cory Wride park today, you can see the Earth work that is being done to prep for Phase 2. The companies have started the process to the south of the main pavilion and by the tennis courts.
Phase two includes more grassed areas, additional parking, extending the City Trail system through the park, as well as additional trees and landscaping. It also includes some future plans for an additional phase that will include more parking.
Phase 2 is depicted in red in the picture below.
It will finish the landscaping at the intersection by the Junior High school and Pony Express Parkway, including additional parking that connects to the parking to the west of the basketball and pickle ball courts. New construction is in Red, and the green area is an alternative.
An additional parking lot will be located south of the current pavilion off of Pony Express Parkway, as well as more green space, trees and additional walk ways.
The plan also includes additional parking west of the tennis courts and south of the base ball fields. It will also include additional trees around the tennis courts and additional walking paths.
The plan also included an additional phase for future development, it is indicated in blue.
The $61,550.18 for park amenities will go ” for the base bid amount of $37,222.73 and consider approving the add alternate of $24,327.45 for the amenities of the 10 court pickleball complex.” The bid continues, “Staff set the bid schedule up to allow for options in the bid schedule. The original state contract base bid came in at $37,222.73 with an additive alternate in the amount of $24,327.45 The base bid can be awarded or the base bid and the add alternate can be approved in the amount of $61,550.18.” The electric bid also includes additional funds to cover the additional lighting needs for the additional pickleball courts.
