On April 25, 2024 Comcast, Eagle mountain Chamber of Commerce and the Eagle Mountain Library launched the Digital Navigator’s program. During the ribbon cutting ceremony the Eagle Mountain City Youth Mayor Ericsson Ansah-Antwi stated that the new program and facility, “creates a bridge between the youth and the seniors in the community.” The center is designed to give seniors the opportunity to learn how to use computers and other technology in an ever changing world. The seniors will be taught by youth from Cedar Valley High School and other organizations in Cedar Valley.
The event was attended by residents, city officials and employees as well as other community leaders. Several of those leaders addressed the attendees and discussed the importance of helping the senior population in Cedar Valley understand and use the ever changing world of technology. In the Digital Literacy Center (DLC) there are computers available to be used, as well as informative flyers and information. The flyers include information on current abbreviations used in texting, what the different emoji represent as well as how to avoid cybercrimes and scams while online.
The formation of the DLC is a great example of private, public and individuals coming together to build something that will help build the community. Programs like this are excellent ways to Elevate, Inspire and Inform the residents of Cedar Valley.

Comcast, Eagle Mountain Chamber, Eagle Mountain Library Launch Innovative Digital Navigator’s Program for Seniors
Eagle Mountain, UT – April 25, 2024 – Comcast, Eagle Mountain Chamber of Commerce, and Eagle Mountain Library are partnering to launch a Digital Navigator’s Program, a comprehensive digital literacy program designed to empower Eagle Mountain’s aging population with technical skills.
The collaborative effort aims to bridge the digital divide and open opportunities for seniors to connect via the Internet with their families, access essential services, and engage with the wider world from the comfort of their homes. The program is set to kick off with a ribbon cutting and open house event at Eagle Mountain Library, 1650 Stagecoach Run, Thurs., April 25, marking the beginning of a new chapter in digital inclusivity for Eagle Mountain’s elderly residents.
“We are thrilled to be part of this vital initiative,” said Michele Graves, Director of the Eagle Mountain Library. “Empowering our senior citizens to navigate the digital world will open new horizons and enrich our community in countless ways. The Digital Navigator’s Program aligns perfectly with our mission to provide resources and support for lifelong learning.”
Like many regions in the United States, Eagle Mountain is experiencing a significant increase in its aging population.
“As baby boomers retire, the number of seniors in Eagle Mountain is on the rise, leading to a greater need for services tailored to their needs,” said Eagle Mountain Mayor Tom Westmoreland. “Because we’re a community that cares about that, this program not only supports our seniors but also strengthens the bonds within our community overall. It’s a win for everyone.”
Through the Digital Navigator’s Program, participants will gain valuable knowledge on a variety of topics, including using computers and tablets, accessing the internet, communicating via email and video chat, utilizing online resources, and staying safe online.
“Thanks to this program, I’m looking forward to video chatting with my grandchildren and managing my health records online. It will change my life and help me not feel lost in this new, digital world,” said Joye Roberts, an Eagle Mountain senior citizen.
Comcast, the Eagle Mountain Chamber, and the Eagle Mountain Library each play a crucial role in bringing this program to life. Comcast is providing the technological infrastructure and funding necessary to support the program’s ambitious goals.
“The Digital Navigator’s Program embodies our collective commitment to empower Eagle Mountain’s senior citizens,” said Deneiva Knight, Comcast External Affairs Director. “By providing seniors with the necessary digital skills, we are enabling them to stay connected with loved ones, access essential services such as telemedicine, and engage with the world around them.”
Eagle Mountain Chamber is leveraging its network of businesses and community leaders to promote the program and recruit volunteers.
“As advocates for local businesses and community development, we recognize the importance of digital literacy in today’s world,” said Eagle Mountain Chamber President Melissa Clark. “The Digital Navigator’s Program will empower seniors to fully participate in the digital economy, lead fulfilling lives, and not feel left behind. We’re proud to support our seniors in becoming tech-savvy and more connected.”
Serving as the program’s physical hub, Eagle Mountain Chamber offers a welcoming space for training sessions and access to digital resources.
“The Digital Navigator’s Program will enable older adults to become more independent, engaged, and connected, thereby enhancing their overall well-being,” said Clark.
