On June 4th, 2023 Peterson Matheson was involved in a Road Rage incident that ultimately resulted in the death of two individuals when he lost control of his vehicle and hit the Porsche they were driving on SR-73 head-on at a high rate of speed. Matheson has been in lock-up at the Utah County Jail since the incident in June. There have been two significant events since the last court date.
Funneral Furllow
It was requested that Matheson be allowed to attend the funeral of his Father-In-Law at the beginning of November 2023. The request was for him to be fitted with a GPS tracking monitor and then travel to his home. Then travel with his wife to the funeral services in Midvale on November 4th and then return to the Jail no later than 2 pm the same day. There were a couple of other provisions included, he could not consume alcohol or controlled substances and would not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
The court denied the furrlow and Matheson was not allowed to attend his Father-In-Laws funeral.

The court still has not ruled on if there will be a trial and if there is enough evidence for there to be a trial. Both the defense and the prosecution have filed briefs and they are currently waiting on a decision to be made by the judge.
