On June 7th, the Utah County Sheriff’s Offices announced that Peterson Drew Matheson, age 30, turned himself in and was booked for driving the Ford F150 that caused the crash on SR-73 that resulted in the deaths of Rodney Michael Salm, and Michaela Himmelberger on June 4th. Matheson is being charged with two 2nd Degree Felony Counts of Manslaughter and a Class B reckless driving offense.
Matheson has had 19 different court cases against him since 2010 in different jurisdictions throughout Utah since 2010. The worst offense prior to this was a speeding ticket in 2022 for 102 MPH in Millard County.
The Cedar Valley Sentinel has pulled the Utah court records for Peterson Drew Matheson and has found that this is not the first time that he has been charged in Utah courts. There are a total of 19 offenses where he has been issued citations for moving and no moving violations.
- In 2010 he was ticketed for headlight and parking violations in Holladay.
- In 2011 he was ticketed three times for parking violations in Holladay, twice for speeding (Murray and South Salt Lake), and for a License Plate Violation in Murray
- In 2012 he was ticketed for no insurance and twice for window tint and/or window obstruction violations
- In 2013 he was ticketed twice for speeding, once in Sandy and once in West Jordan.
- In 2014 he was ticketed for speeding in Murray and 2 other vehicle violations and again in Cottonwood Heights for the location of the license plate.
- In 2015 he was ticketed for a window tint violation
- In 2018 he was ticketed for speeding and had the ticket dismissed after attending traffic school
- In 2022 he was ticketed in Millard for going 102 miles per hour in an 80 zone
