2022 was had an interesting start for one Eagle Mountain family. At about 5:00 am on 1/2/2022 they were awaken by someone knocking on their door and rattling their door knob. The home owners woke up and the husband went to answer the door to find a cold freezing man asking if he could come in to get warm. The home owner let the individual in and had him stand inside the door while he started a fire. That is not the beginning or the end of the story.
Earlier that morning, the man who knocked on the residents door, Jacob Andrew White had stolen his friends truck, taken it for a joy ride and eventually rolled it on Lake Mountain Road close to Pony Express. White then left the scene of the accident and then walked 2 miles in 9 degree weather until he finally gave up and knocked on the door of the resident for help.
The resident had no idea of the previous events, but seeing a cold shivering 130 lb man on his porch lead him to let the man in and give him shelter from the cold. Jacob told Mike that the slid of the road and needed to get warm. What Jacob did not know was that his wife was upstairs, with hand gun in hand, on the phone with 911 dispatch. The rest of the family, 7 kids were still asleep and were unaware of the drama that was unfolding. The home owner, Mike, then started to talk to Jacob to put him at ease while his wife stayed on the line with dispatch and the Utah County Sheriffs office was in route.
The conversation went something like this.
“So, where are you from.” Mike asked.
“Texas” was Jacobs Reply.
“What are you doing in Eagle Mountain?”
“Working”
Mike becomes even more suspicious of the situation and the story Jacob is telling. “Do you have a phone or anyone you could call?”
“In Eagle Mountain?”
“Yes”
“No, I don’t know any of the phone numbers, and I really don’t know where I am. Can you drive me to the Maverick. I can find my way from there.”
Mike was in no way going to drive this unknown individual anywhere. So he went upstairs got his boots and socks, where his wife told him that law enforcement was on their way. He then went back downstairs, started a fire for Jacob and sat down to put on his boots.
“I don’t like to drive when I am this tired, so I am going to put my boots on and then we can wait while I wake up before we go.”
Jacob moved closer to the fire to get warm, still standing at least 6 feet away from Mike. Mike continues to put his boots on.
“So, where is your truck? Can we just go get it unstuck from the side of the road?”
“I rolled it.” Was Jacob’s reply to Mike.
Mike continues to talk to Jacob as he notices the head lights on the wall of the Sheriff vehicles pulling into the driveway. A few seconds later there is a knock at the door. The knock startles Jacob and he moves so that he can see who is there when Mike opens the door. Mike opens the door and moves to the side and says, “He is over there.”
Standing on the door step are two Utah County Sheriff officers, one of them being a K-9 unit with dog ready for action. The one officer looks into the house and says. “Jacob, what did you expect would happen when you steal your friends car, crash it, and run?” The deputy continues, “Step outside so we can talk.” As Jacob walks to the door one of the Deputy walks behind him and starts to place him in hand cuffs. Jacob responds, “Please hand cuff me… I don’t want to get bit.”
Jacob was taken into custody without incident. The residents assure the officers that they are fine, and Mike makes sure the officers know that Jacob did not force himself inside the residence, but was invited in by the resident.
This situation could of gone wrong in so many different ways. If the door would of been unlocked and Jacob would of wandered into the house without being invited the ending would of been significantly different.
White was booked into the Utah County Jail and given there new charges. The charges included intoxication, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and theft of an operable vehicle. Bail was set at $1000.00.

I am trying to find Jacob Andrew White. I am his aunt. Is there any way to find out what happened to him? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Cindy, you could start by contacting the Utah County Sheriffs Office and see if they have any information on where he may of gone after they released him. He did say that he was working for a local construction company, but when I tried to find the company by the name he gave me I was unable to locate it.
