The Utah chapter of Black Lives Matter recently posted on their Facebook page that if you fly an American flag you are an idiot, racist and can’t be trusted. Here is the text from the post.
When we Black Americans see this flag we know the person flying it is not safe to be around. When we see this flag we know the person flying it is a racist. When we see this flag we know that the person flying it lives in a different America than we do. When we see this flag, we question your intelligence. We know to avoid you. It is a symbol of hatred.
The Utah-BLM continues to explain why the American Flag is now a sign of racism on their Facebook page.
All around this state people are flying American flags. They represent a country who made treaties with indigenous people and broke them. That’s the flag of a country that murdered raped and created a genocide upon indigenous people. That’s the flag of a country that went to Africa and stole mothers and fathers and sons and daughters to do their work because they were to lazy to do it themselves. That’s the flag of a country who sent Black men and women to the front lines to die first in wars, then segregated them when they returned home. That’s the flag of a country that put Japanese people into internment camps. That’s the flag of a country who separated families at the border. That’s the flag of a country that refuses to apologize for slavery, refuses to pay reparations for it and now they don’t want your children to learn about it in schools. A flag of a country that allows it’s police to murder Black people and then the Mayor gives them a raise. This week thousands of people will shoot off fireworks and fly nationalist American flags in tribute to a bunch of incompetent wh1te people who fled “tyranny” from England to gained THEIR freedom while imprisoning others. That flag never toodfor freedom. it stands for the freedom of wh1te people to oppress and make gains off of the backs of others. F**k your flag and f**k your fourth.
During the June 2, 2020 Eagle Mountain City Council meeting Donna Burnham who is also running for re-election this year. Put her support behind the BLM movement. Donna is half Puerto Rican and her Grandmother is bi-racial, so she says that “I know a little bit. Not a lot. But I know a little bit about it.” She made the following statement during the Councilmember comments section of the City Council Meeting.
“Some things that people have said that are disturbing. “I support the Black Lives Matter movement, BUT” Separate them, there is no BUT. I don’t support the violence that happened, but, there is no but to my support of the problem that we have and looking for solutions and how we have to find solutions. I have seen people post that “I have black friends who say that it is totally fine and they don’t have any problems.” And I say, “Your friends are lucky.” So, and I am grateful that they are lucky. But that is not how it is for everyone. The biggest one is the “All Lives Matter” comment. And of course all lives matter. But not until black lives matter. And I had a friend just yesterday that was talking to me and he said: “Of course all lives matter, we believe that.” And, unfortunately, that is not the case. I think that most people believe that all lives matter, but I think that many people believe that some lives matter more than others.”
You can view the entire statement as well as a video including the audio here.
I reached out to Donna via Email and asked her what her view of the recent Black Lives Matter statement about flying the racist American Flag. This is her response statement.
I actually don’t support the group, I support the idealogy that Black Lives Matter. By idealogy I don’t mean Marxism or the attack on the family unit, I mean that literally, Black Lives Matter. I’m very disappointed in some of the things that they believe. I do firmly believe, however, that we have a very troubling problem with racism in this country and we need to face it head-on and not stick our heads in the sand and pretend the problem doesn’t exist. I do not support their statement on the flag. I’m very disappointed. We can be patriots and recognize that our country has made mistakes in the way that it treated blacks and indigenous people. We can love our country and love all who live in it.
I understand that you can support a cause or group and not agree with or support everything that they stand for. For me the Republican party is a perfect example. I support them because there is a lack of another political party that I feel I can support 100%. I do support a lot of the things they stand for and what is in their charter. So I understand that you can support a cause, but not support everything they say or stand for. There are things that the Republican party supports and has done that I do not agree with.
I think that BLM is missing the point of the American Flag, as well as what it is supposed to stand for. www.usa.gov has this information about the American Flag.
The U.S. flag stands for our nation and the shared history, pride, principles, and commitment of its people. When we properly display this powerful symbol, we signal our respect for everything it represents.
- The flag shouldn’t be flown in inclement weather unless it’s an all-weather flag.
- Flags displayed at night should be properly illuminated.
- In a time of national mourning, hang the flag at half-mast.
“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
The flag’s 13 alternating red and white stripes represent the 13 original colonies. Its 50 white stars on a blue field represent the 50 states.
The colors on the flag represent:
Red: valor and bravery
White: purity and innocence
Blue: vigilance, perseverance, and justice
It should be noted that the Black Lives Matter Utah Chapter is according to their website: “This chapter is an independent chapter of Black Lives Matter. We are not a part of the global Network of Black Lives Matter.” The views expressed by the BLM Utah Chapter are not an endorsement by the global BLM network.

Come and try to take down my flag. I dare you.
I’m not a racist (whatever that now means) but I will be flying our flag. The word “racist “ now has no real meaning. Everything is racist including apple pie The definition of the word racist has been changed, mutilated and twisted so much that it simply has no meaning Long may our flag fly
