Question: How do you plan to collaborate and work with other council members and community stakeholders to achieve your goals?

Human dignity is number one. We need to discuss ideas while not disparaging character, acknowledging that disagreement doesn’t mean dislike for a person. The motto I created for my brokerage is this: LOVE, SERVE, CONNECT. We employ that motto as we work with one another inside the brokerage, and externally as we work with clients. When other city councilors and stake holders truly understand you genuinely care for them as individuals, it becomes easier to understand each other’s viewpoints and achieve goals.

Eagle Mountain City Council
Even before I started serving on Council, I saw the importance of learning from colleagues on the state and county level, the school board, and even our Federal delegation. I have built some really important relationships with my counterparts, both elected officials and leaders of local nonprofits, and business leaders. I have advocated for regular meetings with surrounding communities and their Councils, and regular meetings with our school board. Those types of working relationships have been a huge benefit to our residents, our nonprofits, and our local businesses. I have a ton of respect for anyone who will put themselves out there and run for office, especially my colleagues on City Council. Civility is something we need as part of the public discourse. Those who have served with me in professional and civic roles know I work hard and don’t give up until we can find a solution to the problem we’re facing or issue we are trying to address. I have regular touch base meetings with my counterparts, and stay in contact with community stakeholders. When people need a resource or connection, they know I will help get them connected to the person and resources they need.

Open communication and creating an agenda for those things that I want to get done with end goal dates. I would love to be able to have other members’ opinions and ideas brought to life as we work together.

This one is easy, I have a demonstrated record of working with planning commission, developers, city council and city staff. I was able to get them to adopt the extensive zoning code and master development code that I wrote. I did this with a unanimous vote from both appointed and elected bodies.

I have been actively working and collaborating with other council members and stakeholders for the past four years. I have loved my association with those who I serve with. I learned and I quote, “You can disagree without being disagreeable.” This has been very important to me. While I have been able to agree on multiple issues, it’s not always the case. I have been able to talk to all the council members and work out better solutions on items where we haven’t agreed by using that Moto. By being approachable and willing to work out the hard things we are presented with, together we have had greater outcomes.

Eagle Mountain City Council
My entire business career has been centered around working with entrepreneurs, professional trades, equipment manufacturers and others to bring about the completion of a project. I work well with others planning and executing projects. Planning and collaboration take on many forms in various ways depending on the objective. I work well in a fluid and changing environment and am confident I will work well with those that will be involved with any aspect of what we do as a city council in collaboration with the mayor’s office, city staff members and other individuals involved with city management.

Hollie McKinney
Fairfield Mayor
As mayor, I would take on the role of delegating responsibilities and tasks to Councilmembers based on their expertise and interest. By utilizing each member’s strengths and skills we can maximize efficiency and productivity in goal achievements. I think by utilizing technology, such as iPads and other electronic devices would greatly improve efficiency and organization. By providing council members access to working documents and agendas in advance, we can ensure ample time for review and preparation. Regular updates and progress reports on ongoing projects will also be essential in tracking our goals and holding ourselves accountable. I want to avoid documents being sent out an hour before a meeting for review. Organizing ,delegating and following through goes a long way when it comes to achieving goals.
