Question: What are your personal, political, and professional long term goals in regards to Eagle Mountain?
Devyn Smith
My biggest goal in life is to be a good father. Professionally, I aspire to being a judge so I can help protect and preserve the law and the Constitution I love. My parents taught me to make something of myself by helping others and always being a leader. I always help when and where I am able. Choosing to serve on City Council is a “lift where you stand” decision for me. I have no political agenda for myself other than to always lift where I stand and help where I am.
Kaden Shumway
I will trim down ordinances, and reduce the risk of the city government getting too much power and not having complicated and complex laws and ordinances.

Personal – The two aspects of my life that hold the most meaning to me are my family and lifelong learning. I will continue to focus on those two things while in office and after.
Political – Serve Eagle Mountain and then go back to my family. I have no aspirations for higher office.
Professional – I previously transitioned from media to a role in Software Development. My goal is to become development management. I have also been exploring the idea of creating a document management software for municipalities that helps serve documents to the public but wouldn’t do so as long as I am in office.

My personal goals have to do with growing my family just a little bit more. Our house has some space that we could fill with another little one. We plan on being here for the foreseeable future and would like our kids to grow up here. As to the political goals the first is to run for an office, check. I don’t currently have any long-term goals politically, but I would like to serve up to two-terms in the city council. I think that is enough time to learn and be effective in what you can do on a council. It gives you time to become more experienced and help newer generations to then become experienced. Professionally I see my career with the State of Utah being my job until I retire. I would like to open a small business in woodworking. I would love to make small wood crafts and furniture on the side.
Carolyn Love
Professionally, I have a rewarding career at a company where I have made a positive impact on its growth and success. I have been employed there for many years and I am proud of my part in its development and the legacy that I have there.
My personal and political goals are to be able to have a positive impact on the growth and success of Eagle Mountain. I would like to be able to look at Eagle Mountain in twenty years and see a community with pleasant, not overcrowded, neighborhoods and an ever-expanding system of walking trails and parks. I would want to see a city with an efficient network of roads that has kept its rural feel and beautiful views. I would want to see more commercial and retail enterprises to expand our tax base and encourage more local purchases.
My goal is to add a legacy of civic service to my professional accomplishments and a measure of pride that I had an influence on Eagle Mountain’s growth and development.

My top goal is to have a great environment in which to care for and raise my kids. Keeping Eagle Mountain a family friendly place is very important to me, as is battling the skyrocketing cost of housing. Tremendous growth is anticipated for the city, and my goal is to navigate that growth in a way that leaves Eagle Mountain a great place to live, play, and work. I don’t currently have any long term political goals. I have never run for any office before and I don’t currently have political ambitions.
Rich Wood
My goals are to serve this community, protect what has made Eagle Mountain the city I want to live in and to preserve the safe family oriented community I want to raise my kids in.

As a family, we just bought a new home in an area that we believe could be our forever home. Although we’ve been in Eagle Mountain since the beginning of time, we feel we have landed. We don’t know what the future holds, but for now, we’re happy right where we are. Political goals, I have no political aspirations beyond serving the residents of Eagle Mountain. I have always and always will stay involved, and most importantly continue to serve. I look at politics as a service, not a career. I’ve always been willing and ready to offer service, and I’m happy when it’s someone else’s turn to do the same.
