The ongoing construction project on Pioneer Crossing, which began earlier this year, continues to make steady progress despite ongoing weather-related challenges. As of Nov. 7, the project is about 55% complete, with a targeted completion date still set for early December, weather permitting.
Last Friday, Nov. 1, the contractor made significant headway by grinding and striping the westbound portion of Pioneer Crossing from Crossroads Blvd. to the Mountain View Corridor intersection. Due to colder temperatures, the south side of the road was not completed, but the contractor plans to finish this work as soon as the weather allows, likely within the next two weeks.
Since the timing is uncertain, this work may occur with short notice. The project team, in coordination with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and public information staff from Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Cedar Fort, and Lehi, will provide the public with at least 24 hours’ notice of any last-minute changes through social media platforms.
In addition to paving and striping work, substantial infrastructure improvements are also taking place. Overhead powerlines in the project area have been relocated underground, with only a few remaining poles to be cleared once telecommunication lines are transferred to underground conduits. Utility vaults and junction boxes have been installed, marking a significant step toward finalizing the area’s utility systems.
Looking ahead, several key tasks remain to be completed, including:
- Installing concrete curb and gutter on the southwest corner of 800 West and Pioneer Crossing.
- Finalizing the relocation of telecommunication lines into underground conduits.
- Connecting new and existing storm drains, which will require a temporary lane shift on 800 West during night work.
- Removing the remaining power poles once all lines are transferred underground.
- Importing, grading, and compacting road base in preparation for paving.
- Narrowing the east side of 800 West to accommodate new double left turn lanes from Pioneer Crossing.
- Completing the final grind and paint striping on both the south side of westbound Pioneer Crossing and the portion of 800 West from 1200 North to Rattler Road, after the new asphalt is laid.
The project team has a goal of wrapping up by the first part of December, pending favorable weather conditions. Residents and commuters in the area are encouraged to stay informed about potential changes by following updates from the involved public information teams.
