Construction crews are making significant progress along 800 West this week as part of the roadway widening project aimed at improving traffic flow and safety near the intersection of SR-73, SR-145, and SR-85.
Crews are currently re-routing power lines along 800 West in preparation for the removal of existing poles. The new power poles and lines are being installed further west, clearing the way for the expansion of the road. In the coming weeks, the old poles will be dismantled and removed.
In addition to this, workers are busy pulling cables to install underground power lines. Next week, telecommunication crews will begin relocating phone, cable, and internet lines to new locations.
Upcoming Work:
Over the next few days, crews will begin placing concrete forms for new curbs and gutters on the western side of 800 West. As part of this project, the road base on the west side will be excavated and new materials brought in to accommodate two new turn lanes from Pioneer Crossing.
Additionally, construction on the southwest corner of the Pioneer Crossing and Mountain View Corridor intersection continues, with curb and gutter forms already underway.
Traffic Impacts:
Motorists should remain cautious in the construction zone, obey traffic controls, and be mindful of workers operating in and around the area. Expect potential night closures at the intersection of SR-73 (Cory B. Wride Memorial Highway), SR-145 (Pioneer Crossing), and SR-85 (Mountain View Corridor), as well as temporary lane shifts and barricades.
Signage will provide directions and alternative routes. There may also be brief interruptions to bike lanes and pedestrian crossings as work progresses.
Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses.
