Eagle Mountain residents had the opportunity to weigh in on the future of the community’s downtown area at an open house hosted by the city on Nov. 13.
The event aimed to begin solidifying ideas for the area by gathering feedback on various amenities residents want to see, including restaurants, parks, office spaces, and transportation options.
“From the day we kicked off this process, we have made resident engagement our top priority, to ensure this downtown area aligns with the vision and desires of the residents of Eagle Mountain,” says City Economic Development Director Evan Berrett.
The event provided residents with a preview of the potential amenities for the downtown area, designed to become a future community hub.
City staff, along with representatives from MHTN Architects, facilitated discussions with attendees to better understand their preferences and priorities, helping guide the planning process in a direction that resonates with the community.
Residents noted their excitement about the possibility of more dining options, enhanced outdoor spaces and efficient public transportation.
“The open house provided a space for residents to share their thoughts, explore ideas, and address concerns about the downtown plan,” said Emily Saeng, planning coordinator with MHTN. “The project team learned from residents that the downtown center should be reflective of Eagle Mountain’s values and provide a place where residents can connect with their families and community. It should be unique to Eagle Mountain and integrate with the natural environment and small-town feel that residents have come to love.”
The City hopes that gathering community input early in the planning process will ensure the downtown area meets the needs of both current and future residents.
Another open house is planned for December as the project progresses, giving additional opportunities for residents to stay engaged and informed.
Those who were unable to attend the Downtown Master Plan Open House can still take a survey that has been made available to solicit feedback from residents. MHTN Architects will also be available to collect resident input at the City’s annual Christmas Village event.
