At the tail end of 2021 the Eagle Mountain City website started its Rumor Stop page. “Welcome to Rumor Stop for Eagle Mountain City. This page is designed to address rumors residents have heard about the community and the City government. Please review the rumors that have already been addressed for answers to your questions. If there is a rumor not already addressed on this page, you can request an answer by filling out some basic information in the “Share a Rumor” section of this page.”
Since I know that anything that is submitted to the City becomes public domain (well, almost everything), I thought it would be fun to see what rumors or questions the residents had that the City did not publish an answer for.
Resident Questions for December 2021
Will EM keep the city as more of an outdoorsy recreational location or plan to build more shops? |
Many neighborhoods in the Ranches like on Pony Express have short sidewalks that connect the subdivision to the bike paths. Our neighborhood has 2 gaps in the fence but only a muddy walk across dirt. How can we get sidewalks added on those two fence openings too? |
When will a street light be added at Pony Express and Ruby Valley Drive? It is so incredibly dangerous with that blind curve that crossing with kids or exiting the neighborhood in a car has caused many close calls. People speed eastbound and you can’t tell which lane they are in either. |
We heard there was a Target being built in City center area. Is that true? |
So on the City Council docket is a site plan Ranches and Pony Express showing an Applebee’s Restaurant. Truth or Fiction? |
Why are the employees laughing about massive amounts of tumbleweeds in residents yards making it hard to drive in and out of drive ways and homes? |
I thought I read somewhere that the roundabout at EM Blvd in the city center would go away and a light installed. |
Where can we get covid vaccinations (physer) in Eagle Mountain? |
I spotted a UFO in the sewer. Is this the council dressing up for Halloween or is it the real deal? |
One of my friends told me that the city council made this website for the purpose of their charity organization Mafia to Mafia. If you enter a specific code into this box you can log into the charity. Is this true? I’d like to donate. |
I heard that there was a murder at Cedar Valley High School |
Are there plans in the near future to extend or widen the left turn lane at the intersection of pony express turning onto ranches parkway? |
Is the permit for A to Z Building Blocks that’s in building permit review for another location or just a change to their current building? |
Why isn’t there a grid system for our streets. Getting to one subdivision to another can be difficult. |
Will Eagle Mountain get their own post office? |
Does the city have any control or regulation over HOA fees and/or rising cost of HOA fees in the area? Thank you! |
Just a suggestion rather than a rumor to answer. It may be a good idea to put dates on responses, so that as things change, people can realize when an answer was given, and know when something has been updated recently. Thanks. I’ve found many of my questions and rumors answered here, so I think this is a great resource. It is important for residents to know where a City and it’s leaders are going, to be more unified. Thanks for all you do. |
Is Airport Road a public road and will it be paved sooner than later to use as a thoroughfare to City Center? |
That the city has a dark sky ordinance and enforces it, because many of the homes in the city that have been constructed since the dark sky ordinance was adopted have non-compliant lighting. |
Is there a plan to preserve the hieroglyphics or even make a trail that leads directly to them to preserve the land around it and the site itself? |
As we grow will we ever get our own police department and fire department? |
Did we have a city meeting about connecting Airport Road to Pony Express? I am BEYOND against this. |
Why is there so much more traffic generated from/to the areas of the data centers within the last year? Is it mostly attributed to construction personnel? |
What are the plans for the open land across the street from the Cory B Wride memorial park and the overland subdivision? Ivory claims that is reserved for commercial real estate. Would a gym be there, a sams club…? |
What’s up with the huge sign at Overland? Is it still decorated for Halloween? Is this vandalism? A joke? Look at the “O”. 🎃 Needs correction. Oversight at Overland. |
When will the city pave Lake Mountain Road? |
I’ve heard direct communications has a contract with Eagle Mountain to be the exclusive internet provider. Is that true? |
will we have a Main st? |
Will a mobile home neighborhood open in the city? |
It’s no news that traffic is INSANE with the morning and evening commute. When will infrastructure catch up with the current growth of our city? |
I understand the need for growth and development from a monetary standpoint for landowners and Eagle Mountain City itself, but I’d like to see more plans for single family housing as opposed to apartment style complexes. How many apartment complexes does Eagle Mountain City plan to build? |
Why does the second lane end momentarily on Pony Express at Trail Head road. Will this ever be fixed? |
Why does the city / planning insist on letting developers build housing on every single bit of open ground available. The growth is unreal, shortsighted, not sustainable, and dangerous with regards to traffic, ingress and egress, emergency access for residents, commute times etc. I understand there is land out here and people want to live here but the rural appeal is being swallowed by corporate greed, poor planning and the cities eagerness to profit from the disturbing levels of construction and housing growth. |
Why hasn’t Eagle Mountain brought Comcast or other Internet/TV providers into the city for choice and competition? |
Is there really a skinwalker that roams around Hidden Hollow? |
Will Eagle Mountain get a Jersey Mike’s? |
I here Chipotle and other restaurants are coming to the Macy’s shopping center |
