The Cedar Valley Sentinel Citizen Editorial and Review Board is a volunteer board made up of local residents from Eagle Mountain, Lehi, Saratoga Springs, Cedar Fort, and Fairfield, along with a few trusted contributors from outside the area. This diverse group serves as a community-based sounding board and think tank for the Sentinel’s editorial content.
The primary role of the board is to provide feedback, help with proofreading, and vet articles before they are published, ensuring that every editorial piece reflects the values, accuracy, and voice of the Cedar Valley community.
When Cedar Valley Sentinel publishes an editorial article, it has undergone full review and approval by all members of this board. No editorial content is published without unanimous agreement from the group.
100% Volunteer-Driven
Board members serve on a completely volunteer basis. They receive no financial compensation for their contributions and participate solely out of a commitment to serving and improving the local news landscape in Northern Utah County.
Equal Voices, Shared Respect
The board operates without a chair or lead member — every voice is equal, and every opinion matters. Editorial decisions are made collectively, and each board member’s feedback is treated with the same weight and respect.
The list of current board members below is presented alphabetically by last name, in recognition of their equal standing on the team.
The board is currently comprised of the following individuals.

Marian Burningham
Marian has lived with her husband, Kevin, and raised their six children in Eagle Mountain, Utah, since 1998. She is a former manager of new product development for a well-known herbal company and has traveled to many countries in her search for plants with medicinal benefits. She has also worked as an independent consultant in the natural products industry and has published a report on one of these most critical expeditions. Her first foray into journalism was as part of her high school newspaper’s staff. She now spends her time engaged in her community, traveling, and as a member of the board of directors of a local non-profit.

Aimee Kieffer
Aimee is a mother of 10. Aimee has called Utah County home since 2001. After spending 11 years in Saratoga Springs, she moved to Eagle Mountain with her husband and children. She has put down roots and calls Cedar Valley her home. She is now going back to school and working towards a Master’s Degree in the Therapy/Psychology field. She lives on 5.2 acres where she is constantly trying to get new plants to grow in the harsh high desert along the base of Lake Mountain. She has turned their Cedar Valley property into a small farm. She created a market garden and has sold produce and other products at the Eagle Mountain Farms market. The farm is now home to a small herd of goats, a flock of chickens, a handful of ducks, and occasionally a family of rabbits. The farm is also home to a Kestrel Nesting box that is used by the Eagle Mountain Kestrel Project and supplies the project with webcam feeds during the season. Aimee has also home-schooled several of her children. If she is not studying, working on the farm, or teaching her children, you can find her volunteering for her Church.

Riversteadt (River) LaMoreaux
River grew up in Utah. She attended the University of Utah, graduating with a BS and MS in Geography, specializing in the biogeography of the Claron Formation at Bryce Canyon and Cedar Breaks. She then moved to Georgia to study peat bogs and caves and completed a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. She then taught for 17 years in the Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University, creating interdisciplinary classes that combined science, art, and creative writing. She is now a Professor Emerita and lives with her partner Malia in Seattle and enjoys traveling to see her children and grandchildren.
