The Eagle Mountain planning commission will be meeting on 11/9/2021 to discuss several items. One of those items is the discussion and public hearing for a Big-O-Tire facility along Pony Express. “The Big O Tires story begins back in 1962, just as America’s new love affair with the automobile was hitting high gear. The market for replacement tires was exploding, and independent tire dealers found themselves struggling to compete in the face of low prices offered by major tire manufacturers’ own company stores. Big O’s founding fathers were a handful of progressive independent tire dealers who decided to band together to form a tire-buying cooperative so that they could secure volume pricing and keep their customers happy. Their concept worked. In the years that followed, the Big O Tires co-op evolved into a full-fledged franchise as it continued to find innovative ways to harness the power of the collective to benefit independent dealerships and their customers.”
The agenda item reads: “A site plan proposal for a Big O Tires store located on approximately 1 acre (Parcel 49:955:0003) adjacent to the recently approved Cascade Collision site.”
Big-O-Tires uses a franchise business model. “As a Big O Tires franchisee, you have the freedom to operate independently with an experienced team behind you providing outstanding support, resources, and training to help you excel as an owner. Check out our video to learn more about joining the Big O Tires Family.” Their website says that their franchises have an average net income of $416,974, with average revenue of $3,538.325. That revenue could bring in a nice amount of revenue to the city in the form of sales tax.

If the planning commission approves the plan, it could move onto the City Council’s agenda for a vote in the next few months. Nothing is in stone yet, but it looks like there is a pretty good chance it will get approved and eventually start serving the residents of Eagle Mountain and near by cities of Cedar Fort and Fairfield.

I’m so sick of seeing crap businesses lining the entrance to Eagle Mountain; being packed in just like the new dwellings being built. I’d move if I could afford it. Real Estate investors get anything they want. The community concerns are virtually ignored.
